Sahar Behairy

Co-Founder

Co-Founder of ART74 Visual Narratives.

Based between Cairo, Milan, and Riyadh, Sahar Behairy is a lecturer, curator, and art economist specializing in African and Middle Eastern art markets. Born in Egypt in 1970, she holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Art Markets from the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti (NABA) in Milan.

With over 26 years of experience, Behairy has led philanthropic initiatives across seven countries, focusing on education, culture, health, women’s empowerment, and childcare. Her love of arts and culture naturally guided her into the curatorial field, where she began shaping projects that connect local narratives with international platforms.

Between 2014 and 2025, she curated numerous solo and group exhibitions at museums and leading galleries in Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, Cape Town, Congo-Brazzaville, Milan, and London. In 2017, she was part of the team behind Grenada’s official participation in The Bridge, curated by Omar Donia, at the 57th Venice Biennale. She also chaired the panel Africa and the Middle East: Cultural Innovation and Development in the Arts and Culture at the ROME Museum Exhibition in 2022.

In 2025, she was appointed Curator of the Special Projects Pavilion at ReA! Art Fair in Milan, where she is leading a bold curatorial vision highlighting experimental practices and emerging voices from Egypt and Saudi Arabia.

Behairy is the co-founder of ART74 Visual Narratives, a pioneering platform that bridges cinema and visual arts across Egypt, Africa, and the MENA region. The platform debuted at the Cairo International Film Festival 2024.
